Tenerife

Tenerife is the largest island among the seven Canary Islands, destination for tourists or those looking for property for sale.  The nightlife capital of Tenerife is the Playa de las Americas, which is split into three distinct areas; the Patch, the Veronicas, and Starco Commercial Centre.  While the Patch offers family entertainment, the Veronicas and Starco are both populated by bars and clubs, most of which are open until 6am, and don't have dress codes.  As for daytime, there a multitude of activities available, including water parks and go-carting, as well as the traditional sunbathing, made all the more pleasant by Tenerife's Mediterranean climate.  Those who wish to invest in property to rent to holiday makers will not find a lack of tourists, while those who wish to purchase real estate as a personal holiday or retirement home will find a multitude of properties to choose from, all desirable and luxurious.

Tenerife has the lowest temperature difference between summer highs and winter lows of anywhere in the world.  While summer temperatures average at 24C, winters settle at around 15C.  There's no specific rainy season, and overhead fans are enough to keep the air pleasantly cool even in the height of summer, wherever on the island you choose to buy property.

Because of Tenerife's popularity, property prices can be expensive.  It's worth exploring different areas of the island, since prices can differ.  A three bedroom apartment might cost £150,000 in Plaza Paraiso, but cost £175,000 in Golf las Americas.  A similar property could be £208,299 in El Madronal, or the price might even rise to £306,250 in an area such as Los Cristianos.
Tenerife has two airports, Los Rodeos in the north and Reina Sofía in the south.  Los Rodeos Airport is 11km from Santa Cruz, and offers connecting services to the other six Canary Islands, Spain, mainland Europe and South America.  From Reina Sofia airport, the Tenerife public bus service, TITSA offers cheap and convenient transport to all parts of the island, including Los Rodeos airport, which is only 71 km away.  The average fare for short journeys is around €45 or £0.30 at current exchange rates.
